Adaptation takes centre stage at the Climate Action Professional Officers Group
The Climate Action Professional Officers Group (POG) was started in December 2020 and has attracted over 50 council participants for each of its first two meetings. The POG aims to facilitate consultation and collaboration between council and state government staff to develop programs and resources to meet the local council needs.
At the second POG meeting on Thursday 18 March, the meeting focused on the intersection of adaptation, mitigation, planning and climate change in the built environment. Attendees heard about:
- The Department’s Low Emissions Building Materials initiative
- Western Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (WSROC) Urban Heat Planning Toolkit
- Waverley Council’s Future Proofing Residential Development to Climate Change
The next POG is expected to be held in May 2021. Please contact LGNSW if a representative from your council is interested in attending.
