Climate Risk Ready training applications now open

The next round of the Climate Risk Ready accredited training in climate risk management, delivered by Western Sydney University, The College, will start on 13 October 2022. Enrollments close on 30 September 2022.

Why take the course?

NSW has already faced some of the significant consequences of climate change. Decisive action on climate change is about both reducing emissions and adapting and building resilience to the impacts of locked-in climate change.

The NSW Government is exposed to physical and financial climate-related risks to the delivery of public assets, services and government objectives. It is imperative that Government – as the owners and operators of critical infrastructure, assets and services – clearly understand their climate risks and develop responses to adapt.

In recognition of this, the NSW Climate Change Adaptation Strategy, released in June 2022, requires all government entities to complete their own climate change risk assessment by the end of 2023.

This is where the Climate Risk Ready accredited training can help.

Developed with support from NSW Treasury, the Climate Risk Ready accredited training will support your agency to complete a Climate Change Risk Assessment and help embed climate change into your existing risk, asset and financial management procedures.

What is included?

The course is sector agnostic and would be particularly relevant for anyone with risk, finance, business continuity, sustainability or infrastructure and assets in their remit. Each cohort is open to Government agencies and local governments only. We’ve received great feedback on the current course from students across NSW as well as all states and territories.

You’ll meet and develop a network of peers across Government to share learnings and knowledge. Completion of the course assessments will directly contribute to completion of a climate change risk assessment for your agency, division or project.
